{"id":73583,"date":"2022-02-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2022\/02\/10\/adding-tirzepatide-to-insulin-glargine-ups-glycemic-control-in-t2dm\/"},"modified":"2022-02-11T18:11:54","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T18:11:54","slug":"adding-tirzepatide-to-insulin-glargine-ups-glycemic-control-in-t2dm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2022\/02\/10\/adding-tirzepatide-to-insulin-glargine-ups-glycemic-control-in-t2dm\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding Tirzepatide to Insulin Glargine Ups Glycemic Control in T2DM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>\n<p>For adults with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control, glycemic control improved with addition of tirzepatide versus placebo<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>THURSDAY, Feb. 10, 2022 (HealthDay News) &#8212; The addition of subcutaneous tirzepatide versus placebo to titrated insulin glargine results in significant improvements in glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control, according to a study published in the Feb. 8 issue of the <em>Journal of the American Medical Association<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dominik Dahl, M.D., from Gemeinschaftspraxis f \u00bcr Innere Medizin und Diabetologie in Hamburg, Germany, and colleagues randomly assigned adults with type 2 diabetes receiving insulin glargine, who had inadequate glycemic control, to receive once-weekly subcutaneous injections of 5-mg, 10-mg, or 15-mg tirzepatide (116, 119, and 120, respectively) or volume-matched placebo (120 adults) over 40 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers found that treatment was discontinued prematurely by 10, 12, 18, and 3 percent of participants in the tirzepatide 5-mg, 10-mg, and 15-mg groups and placebo group, respectively. From baseline to week 40, the mean hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) change was \u00e2\u0088\u00922.11, \u00e2\u0088\u00922.40, and \u00e2\u0088\u00922.34 percent with 5-mg, 10-mg, and 15-mg tirzepatide, respectively, versus \u00e2\u0088\u00920.86 percent with placebo. From baseline, the mean change in body weight was \u00e2\u0088\u00925.4, \u00e2\u0088\u00927.5, \u00e2\u0088\u00928.8, and 1.6 kg with 5-mg, 10-mg, and 15-mg tirzepatide and placebo, respectively.
