{"id":6315,"date":"2018-06-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/06\/lifetime-risks-temper-biomarker-tests-for-alzheimer-dz-dementia\/"},"modified":"2018-06-07T16:09:46","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T16:09:46","slug":"lifetime-risks-temper-biomarker-tests-for-alzheimer-dz-dementia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/06\/lifetime-risks-temper-biomarker-tests-for-alzheimer-dz-dementia\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifetime Risks Temper Biomarker Tests for Alzheimer Dz Dementia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Those younger than 85 years with MCI, amyloidosis, neurodegeneration have risk &#62;50 percent<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>WEDNESDAY, June 6, 2018 (HealthDay News) &#8212; The lifetime risks of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease (AD) dementia vary considerably by age, gender, and the preclinical or clinical disease state, according to a study published online May 22 in <i>Alzheimer&#8217;s &#038; Dementia<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Brookmeyer, Ph.D., and Nada Abdalla, from the University of California in Los Angeles, used a multistate model for the disease process together with U.S. death rates to estimate the lifetime and 10-year risks of AD dementia.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers found that there was considerable variation in lifetime risks of AD by age, gender, and the preclinical or clinical disease state of the individual. For a female with only amyloidosis, the lifetime risks were 8.4 and 29.3 percent for a 90- and 65-year-old, respectively. Lifetime risks of AD dementia greater than 50 percent were seen for persons younger than 85 years with mild cognitive impairment, amyloidosis, and neurodegeneration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Most persons with preclinical AD will not develop AD dementia during their lifetimes,&#8221; the authors write. &#8220;Lifetime risks help interpret the clinical significance of biomarker screening tests for AD.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One author disclosed financial ties to Takeda.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alzheimersanddementia.com\/article\/S1552-5260(18)30098-0\/fulltext\" target=\"_new\">Abstract\/Full Text (subscription or payment may be required)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Copyright \u00a9 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthday.com\/\" target=\"_new\">HealthDay<\/a>.
