{"id":41564,"date":"2020-10-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2020\/10\/27\/vosoritide-aids-bone-growth-in-children-with-dwarfism\/"},"modified":"2020-11-04T18:10:06","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T18:10:06","slug":"vosoritide-aids-bone-growth-in-children-with-dwarfism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2020\/10\/27\/vosoritide-aids-bone-growth-in-children-with-dwarfism\/","title":{"rendered":"Vosoritide Aids Bone Growth in Children With Dwarfism"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Compared with placebo, vosoritide increased growth velocity to near-normal annual rate<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY, Oct. 27, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; Vosoritide increases bone growth velocity in children with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, according to a study recently published in <i>The Lancet<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Ravi Savarirayan, M.D., from the University of Melbourne in Australia, and colleagues randomly assigned 121 children diagnosed with achondroplasia (aged 5 to 18 years) to either subcutaneous injections of vosoritide or placebo for 52 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers found that the adjusted mean difference in annualized growth velocity between patients in the vosoritide group and placebo group was 1.57 cm\/year, favoring vosoritide. Most patients (119 people) had at least one adverse event (98 percent in both groups).
