{"id":38190,"date":"2020-08-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2020\/08\/04\/2-agonists-improve-nonaerobic-athletic-performance\/"},"modified":"2020-08-05T16:10:12","modified_gmt":"2020-08-05T16:10:12","slug":"2-agonists-improve-nonaerobic-athletic-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2020\/08\/04\/2-agonists-improve-nonaerobic-athletic-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"&#946;2-Agonists Improve Nonaerobic Athletic Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Specifically, sprint and strength performance were enhanced with use of &#946;2-agonists<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY, Aug. 4, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; Sprint and strength performance are improved in nonasthmatic athletes by using \u03b22-agonists, according to a review published online Aug. 3 in the <i>British Journal of Sports Medicine<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Amund Riiser, Ph.D., from the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences in Vestlandet, and colleagues conducted a systematic literature review to examine the effect of \u03b22-agonists on anaerobic performance (maximal physical performance lasting one minute or less) in healthy nonasthmatic individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Based on 34 identified studies, the researchers found that \u03b22-agonists improved anaerobic performance by 5 percent, but the effect was related to dose and administration route. The standardized difference in mean (SDM) was 0.14 for approved \u03b22-agonists and 0.46 for prohibited \u03b22-agonists. For inhaled administration, SDM was 0.16 versus 0.51 for oral administration. Additionally, SDM was 0.20 for acute treatment and 0.50 for treatment for multiple weeks.
