{"id":2413,"date":"2018-03-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/20\/custom-made-foot-orthotics-no-benefit-for-plantar-heel-pain\/"},"modified":"2018-03-21T16:08:13","modified_gmt":"2018-03-21T16:08:13","slug":"custom-made-foot-orthotics-no-benefit-for-plantar-heel-pain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/20\/custom-made-foot-orthotics-no-benefit-for-plantar-heel-pain\/","title":{"rendered":"Custom-Made Foot Orthotics No Benefit for Plantar Heel Pain"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Findings based on comparison between custom, over-the-counter, and sham products<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY, March 20, 2018 (HealthDay News) &#8212; Custom-made foot orthotics appear to be no better than over-the-counter insoles or other conservative treatments for heel pain, according to a review published online March 19 in the <i>British Journal of Sports Medicine<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Nadine Rasenberg, from the Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands, and colleagues conducted a systematic literature review to identify randomized controlled trials comparing foot orthotics to a control (defined as no intervention, sham, or another type of conservative treatment).<\/p>\n<p>The researchers identified 20 studies investigating eight different types of foot orthotics. Pooled data from six studies showed no difference between prefabricated orthotics and sham orthotics for short-term pain. Similarly, there was no difference between sham orthotics and custom orthotics for short-term pain.
