Edwards HealthDay Reporter<\/b><br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>WEDNESDAY, Sept. 3, 2025 (HealthDay News) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/\">DermaRite<\/a> Industries has expanded a voluntary recall of several over-the-counter creams, soaps and sanitizers that may be contaminated with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/b-cepacia\/about\/index.html\">Burkholderia cepacia complex<\/a><\/em>, a type of bacteria that can cause serious infections.<\/p>\n<p>The recall, first announced July 16, now includes additional products and lot numbers sold nationwide and in Puerto Rico, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).<\/p>\n<p>Health officials warn that people with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk.<\/p>\n<p>In rare cases, the bacteria can cause severe infections that may lead to life-threatening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthday.com\/a-to-z-health\/blood-disorders\/sepsis-2666029199.html\">sepsis<\/a>. For healthy people, using the products may only cause minor skin infections, but health officials urge caution.<\/p>\n<p>The expanded recall covers a range of products, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>4-N-1 no-rinse wash cream<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DermaCerin moisturizing cream<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DermaFungal anti-fungal cream<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DermaKleen antiseptic lotion soap<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DermaMed skin protectant for poison ivy and other rashes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>DermaSarra anti-itch cream<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Gel Rite instant hand sanitizer<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hand E Foam foaming hand sanitizer<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>KleenFoam antimicrobial foam soap<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Lantiseptic skin protectant for cuts and scrapes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PeriGiene antiseptic cleanser<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PeriGuard skin protectant for incontinence-related rashes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Renew creams for diaper rash and skin repair<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>UltraSure antiperspirant and deodorant<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>DermaRite has contacted distributors and customers and instructed them to destroy all affected products, the FDA said.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers with questions can call DermaRite directly at 888-943-5190 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET) or email dermarite5186@sedgwick.com.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who develops symptoms after using these products should contact their health care provider right away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A full list of affected products and lots is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/dermarite.com\/voluntary-recall\/\">DermaRite.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SOURCE: U.S. Food and Drug Administration, recall notice, Aug. 28, 2025<\/p>\n<p><i><\/i><br \/>\n<i>Copyright &#169; 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/consumer.healthday.com\/\" target=\"_new\">HealthDay<\/a>.
