{"id":17551,"date":"2019-03-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/11\/fda-approves-first-immunotherapy-drug-for-breast-cancer\/"},"modified":"2019-03-12T16:10:04","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T16:10:04","slug":"fda-approves-first-immunotherapy-drug-for-breast-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/11\/fda-approves-first-immunotherapy-drug-for-breast-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA Approves First Immunotherapy Drug for Breast Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Combo of Tecentriq and chemo given accelerated approval for triple-negative breast cancer<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>MONDAY, March 11, 2019 (HealthDay News) &#8212; The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given its blessing to the first immunotherapy regimen for breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of immunotherapy (Tecentriq) and chemotherapy (Abraxane) was given accelerated approval for triple-negative breast cancer that is locally advanced or has metastasized, cannot be surgically removed, and is programmed death-ligand 1-postive, <i>CNN<\/i> reported.<\/p>\n<p>A study published last October in the <i>New England Journal of Medicine<\/i> revealed a median progression-free survival of 7.4 months among patients who received the combination therapy compared with 4.8 months among those who received chemotherapy with a placebo, the FDA said Friday.
