{"id":15019,"date":"2019-01-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/09\/long-work-hours-tied-to-poor-glycemic-control-in-t2dm\/"},"modified":"2019-01-10T16:57:08","modified_gmt":"2019-01-10T16:57:08","slug":"long-work-hours-tied-to-poor-glycemic-control-in-t2dm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/09\/long-work-hours-tied-to-poor-glycemic-control-in-t2dm\/","title":{"rendered":"Long Work Hours Tied to Poor Glycemic Control in T2DM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Findings seen in young male, but not female, Japanese workers with type 2 diabetes mellitus<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>WEDNESDAY, Jan. 9, 2019 (HealthDay News) &#8212; Long work hours (\u226560 hours\/week) are associated with poor glycemic control in young Japanese men with type 2 diabetes, according to a study published in the January issue of the <i>Journal of Diabetes Investigation<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Yasushi Azami, from Jouhoku Hospital in Kanazawa, Japan, and colleagues assessed associations between working conditions, eating habits, and glycemic control among Japanese workers with type 2 diabetes (352 men and 126 women aged 20 to 40 years).<\/p>\n<p>The researchers found that suboptimal glycemic control in male workers was associated with a disease duration of \u226510 years (odds ratio [OR], 2.43), glycosylated hemoglobin level of \u22657 percent at baseline (OR, 8.50), skipping breakfast and having late evening meals (OR, 2.50), and working \u226560 hours\/week (OR, 2.92).
