{"id":12259,"date":"2018-10-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/30\/psoriasis-linked-to-increased-risk-for-inflammatory-bowel-disease\/"},"modified":"2018-10-31T16:01:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T16:01:15","slug":"psoriasis-linked-to-increased-risk-for-inflammatory-bowel-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgoo.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/30\/psoriasis-linked-to-increased-risk-for-inflammatory-bowel-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Psoriasis Linked to Increased Risk for Inflammatory Bowel Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Significant associations observed between psoriasis and risk for Crohn&#8217;s disease, ulcerative colitis<\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY, Oct. 30, 2018 (HealthDay News) &#8212; Psoriasis appears to be significantly associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), according to a review published online Oct. 24 in <i>JAMA Dermatology<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Yun Fu, M.D., from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, and colleagues assessed case-control, cross-sectional, or cohort studies that examined either the odds or risk for IBD in patients with psoriasis.<\/p>\n<p>Based on five case-control or cross-sectional studies and four cohort studies that involved a total of 7,794,087 participants, the researchers found significant associations between psoriasis and Crohn&#8217;s disease (odds ratio, 1.7) and between psoriasis and ulcerative colitis (OR, 1.75). In addition, patients with psoriasis had an increased risk for Crohn&#8217;s disease (risk ratio, 2.53) and ulcerative colitis (risk ratio, 1.71).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gastroenterology consultation may be indicated when patients with psoriasis present with bowel symptoms,&#8221; conclude the authors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamadermatology\/fullarticle\/2709119\" target=\"_new\">Abstract\/Full Text<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Copyright \u00a9 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthday.com\/\" target=\"_new\">HealthDay<\/a>.
